Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport 2

You can now reinforce and strengthen your understanding of safeguarding without repeating ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’ (SPC1). Developed in partnership with the NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit, this workshop is the long-awaited follow-up to SPC1 that qualified coaches are recommended to attend every three years....

‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children 2’ differs from its predecessor in that it deliberately builds upon the practical experience you have already gained in your day-to-day role as a coach; giving you the chance to reflect upon as well as learn from other coaches’ experiences.

By completing this workshop you will be able to:

  • actively promote a positive and child-centred coaching environment
  • enjoy peace of mind by being fully informed of current national legislation relevant to your role
  • calmly and confidently recognise, make informed decisions about safeguarding children and respond appropriately should you encounter any problematic situations.

By reflecting and being aware of your feelings and thoughts, you are more likely to consider situations objectively and deal with them effectively whenever necessary. The workshop also prompts a review of practice to ensure your sport provides a positive and enriching experience for children and that, as a coach, your behaviour is always above reproach.
